LOWER-BODY LIFT

What is it? A lower-body lift removes excess fat and skin from the abdominal area, thighs, and buttocks that may be unsightly and uncomfortable. Circumstances such as excessive weight loss or loss of skin elasticity can cause sagging or hanging skin in the lower portion of the body, so body lift procedures are designed to remove and tighten skin to improve the body's contour.

Expectations: Sometimes, dieting and working out alone can't reverse the effects of skin laxity that results after excessive weight loss, pregnancy, and other factors, so a lower-body lift can be the solution for improved body contour.

A pre-op plan will be carefully created for you, and may include changes in diet and other habits that impact your health. You will be asked to fast the night prior to surgery, and may be asked not to take certain medications, refrain from common activities, or stop certain habits.

We will create a post-op plan specifically for you so you can minimize pain and quickly nurse your body back to health.

Lower-Body Lift Procedure Details: Procedures for a lower-body lift will be customized to your specific needs. The incision for the procedure spans the entire circumference of the lower trunk. The areas of the buttocks, waist, hips, and thighs can all be potentially improved.

Scarring

Due to the nature of a lower-body lift, scarring will be evident. The scar is placed in a position that should be concealed by underwear. Over time, however, the scar lines will thin and fade with proper care.

Recovery: Dressings and bandages will be applied after surgery, and four drains will be left in and these will need to be emptied frequently. They are used to prevent the accumulation of fluid that is naturally produced by the body.  The amount of fluid emptied from the drains will have to be recorded daily, until they are removed.  You will experience bruising and swelling, and you will need to treat the affected areas gently as they heal. Also, you will need to wear an abdominal support garment for several weeks.  You may resume exercise in about six weeks. Until then, activity should be minimized.

ARM LIFT

What is it? Dramatic weight loss and reduced skin elasticity due to aging can cause excess skin to hang from the arm. An arm lift is an effective way to restore firmness, reduce circumference, and improve contour of the arm, thus restoring confidence and improving self-esteem.

Expectations: While exercise can improve muscle tone, lost skin elasticity or weakened tissue is not affected by working out, so an arm lift can restore a firm, tone appearance.

A pre-op plan will be carefully created for you, and may include changes in diet and other habits that impact your health. You will be asked to fast the night prior to surgery, and may be asked not to take certain medications, refrain from common activities, or stop certain habits.

We will create a post-op plan specifically for you so you can minimize pain and quickly nurse yourself back to health. Your arms will be wrapped in elastic bandages or compression garments while you recover, and you will be asked to refrain from any lifting or physical exertion.

Arm Lift Procedure Details: The arm lift procedure takes about one-and-a-half to two hours and involves making an incision along the inner arm and removing the skin that has been drooping. Once the excess skin and fat have been removed, the remainder is sutured back together, creating a more defined contour to the upper arm. Liposuction is commonly used during the procedure to remove extra fat.

Scarring
Since the incision is made on the inner arm, any scarring will be hidden from view, when the arms are positioned at the patient’s side. Over time, the scar lines will thin and fade with proper care.

Recovery:  Recovery takes between two and four weeks, and swelling may last up to six. Patients should avoid any heavy lifting during recovery.  Arms should remain elevated as much as possible   A drain will be left in each arm for up to a few days. Drains are used to prevent the accumulation of fluid that is naturally produced by the body.  The amount of fluid emptied from the drains will have to be recorded daily, until they are removed.

THIGH LIFT

What is it? A thigh lift can improve contour and tighten excess skin. Like other areas of the body, weight loss, genetics, or aging can lead to skin that droops in the thigh area.

Expectations: Different thigh lifts are available depending on your needs and preferences. We will consult with you to determine the best approach for you. The intended result is for you to have a refined body contour and improved shape.

A will be carefully created for you, and may include changes in diet and other habits that impact your health. You will be asked to fast the night prior to surgery, and may be asked not to take certain medications, refrain from common activities, or stop certain habits.

We will create a post-op plan specifically for you so you can minimize pain and quickly nurse yourself back to health. Your thighs will be wrapped in elastic bandages or compression garments while you recover, and you will be asked to refrain from any strenuous exercise or physical exertion.

Thigh Lift Procedure Details: During a thigh lift, incisions are made on the inner thighs that may extend into the groin area. The skin is then raised, allowing access to remove fat. Then, the skin is tightened for improved contour and appearance. The procedure can last two to three hours, and you will be return home the same day.

Scarring
The procedure involves making some portion of the incision within the underwear or bathing suit line, and this part will be concealed. The incision will also extend from the groin down the medial thigh, so scarring can be evident on the inner legs. Over time, however, the scar lines will thin and fade with proper care.

Recovery: Bruising can last up to three weeks, and swelling should diminish after six weeks. Your final results will be evident after six months, and should last a lifetime with proper attention to your health. A drain will be left in each thigh for up to a few days. Drains are used to prevent the accumulation of fluid that is naturally produced by the body. The amount of fluid emptied from the drains will have to be recorded daily, until they are removed.

Details: A surgical procedure is available for women who suffer from enlarged inner and outer labia of the vagina. This surgery, labiaplasty, may help alleviate undesirable conditions typical of the condition. For example, many women endure pain during intercourse, suffer genital pain from wearing tight clothing or from exercising, or are self-conscious about their appearance.

The procedure involves reducing the size of the labia appropriately so as to improve one's comfort and appearance. If this procedure is something you have considered, Dr. Cangello will work with you to determine the best medical approach to help you achieve the changes you desire.
